ScarJo sighting

I had one of my better celeb sightings today - Scarlett Johansson!
I was at a building in the Meatpacking District dropping a book off for someone. I got into the elevator with her, but couldn't tell if it was her initially. Then when I came back down 15 minutes later, she got in the elevator to go down at the same time and then I heard her speak - her signature voice was a dead giveaway. Cute and normal - and shorter than I thought. Then again, I was wearing heels... When we left, she jogged out to her SUV waiting at the curb down the street. Definitely in a hurry.

An eve at Bungalow 8

Last night was pretty rainy as I got ready for my evening at Bungalow 8. I was worried about wearing my 4.5 inch heels because of the weather, but it ended up being ok. I wore all black - black dress, patent belt, shoes, purse.
I was going to this party as a guest of one of my authors. Her name is Cheryl Diamond, and she has a book coming out next month, Model: A Memoir. We went to this party to promo her book. I met Cheryl and her friend, Jimmy James at the club. Jimmy performed that night and will also perform at Cheryl's book party next month.
Among the sightings and meet & greets? I got to meet John Legend. He was so gracious and down to earth. I also was introduced to two fashion designers. Kalinka has a store in Chelsea and wore her own design. I also met Maggie Norris, a couture gown maker.
All in all, it was a great night. I can't wait for Cheryl's launch party!

Central Park in the Spring

Although it was rather cloudy today, I had a lovely stroll in Central Park. The lilacs and tulips are in full bloom!

free pizza in NY? yes!

Last night, my lovely friend Molly suggested we go to Crocodile Lounge. As we were walking over there, she claimed that you get a free pizza with every drink ordered. Needless to say, I was doubting her assertion, but after we arrived, I soon realized it was true! The pizza wasn't bad either. Heavy on the dough, light on the sauce, but this is a perfect 2am snack to pair with Miller Lite (and yes, they had Miller Lite! so bonus points for them).

Now I'm trying to get my lazy bum to the gym.

Pope in NY

I woke up early this morning to bagpipes who were warming up for the Pope's arrival. He finally showed up around 9:30 and I went to the window to look out, only to find a sniper, aiming his gun at me. Ummmm....good morning?

I took some pics of the Pope, the snipers, and the longest motorcade I've ever seen - had to have been more than 50 vehicles.

The Most Romantic Moment

I saw such a special moment this evening.

I went walking down to the esplanade on the Hudson River to read the newspaper. There was this little patio area with stairs and benches where a couple was getting married. It was a perfect evening - the sun was setting, a slight breeze, and warm temps. Who would've thought that it would have been such a beautiful April evening.

When the minister said "you may kiss the bride" and the groom leaned in, all the passer-bys and people sitting on the near-by benches started cheering and clapping. It was such a special moment. And even though they were in such a public place and strangers joined in their celebratory moment, it felt so private and romantic.

When I woke up this morning...

...and gazed out my windows, I saw something new! Overnight, they unrolled these lovely banners over groundzero. They give me hope that this area will one day look normal again.

I am a Publicist!

It's official. I arranged this piece in the New York Times Style Magazine: Fashion & Beauty Issue that was in the Saturday/Sunday NYT this weekend! It covers one of the books for which I'm the publicist - Model: A Memoir. I'm so excited it worked out.

Mets vs. Brewers

The Brew Crew pulled out a victory today at Shea Stadium, and I was there to witness it! I cheered proudly for my Brewers and got a few harassing "BOOOOOOOs" from the Mets fans in the stands when Bill Hall and Rickie Weeks cranked out two home runs. I was waiting in line at concessions when Gabe Kapler banged out a 2-run homer, but I still got a few sneers and grumbles.
As much as I love my hometown team, my heart will always be with the Brew Crew.
Bonus: the seats were amazing!
