Happy Holidays!

The holiday season is in full swing in New York!

John and Marcia sent us a fun St. Nick's package. Yummy treats!!

If you look across the street, you can see how many people there are near Rockefeller Center. My work building is the one on the right.

We had to throw a few elbows to get this picture.

The police actually called for back-up to do crowd control. It was absolute madness - I've never seen anything like it! I guess that is what happens on a Saturday night in Rock Center.

I think our tree gives that other tree a run for its money.

Stockings hung above our fireplace...

Frosting cookies!

Sprinkles!!!

It just wouldn't be Christmas without cut-out cookies! Thanks to my aunt for the yummy recipe!

Thanksgiving 2008: Dining for Two, Thinking of Many

Once again, this year, Luke and I decided to stay in New York for Thanksgiving. Airfare was rather expensive, and judging by our steller cooking skills, we knew we could cook a respectable meal-for-two. This year was slightly different in that we opted for a full turkey. (Last year, we took the easy way out with a turkey breast.) I know we're all sick of leftovers at this point, but I hope the food looks remotely appetizing. Needless to say, we were both in turkey comas on Thursday afternoon.

We actually made our pie on Wednesday. Luke discovered that he is Suzy Homemaker.

I made my
Spiced Apple Cider muffins on Wednesday too. Since the recipe makes a dozen and Luke doesn't like sweets, I'm still eating them now. I'm okay with that. :)

Voila! Our masterpieces!

Yes, folks, that's the neck. Eeeesh.

I made this
fun chick pea appetizer which was quite tasty. However, Rachael suggests adding the paprika with five minutes left to cook so that it doesn't burn. No no no. I would say about 1-2 minutes left to cook. My paprika started to burned after only three minutes. It was still yummy though!

Hmm, we need carving tools. But Luke made do with our plastic tongs.

Our feast!!!

Yummm. The perfect pie.

Errr, we need a bigger apartment.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

I'm still here!

Yes, I've been lazy as of late. But with Thanksgiving/Christmas fast-approaching, I promise I will document the magic of NY during the holidays!

In the mean time, the weather has felt very un-holiday-like. Yesterday, it was 66* which made for a gorgeous day to do my long run for the week. But I know it won't last (sigh)...today is a bit cooler and this week looks to be a lot colder.

Last night, Luke and I went to see Quantum of Solace, the new James Bond movie. This is just my opinion, but I would say that it wasn't quite as good as Casino Royale, but I would recommend it for any Daniel-Craig-enthusiasts. We also decided to be pool sharks for a night and went to Amsterdam Billiards with Kim and Sam. I should say.... Sam and Luke decided to be pool sharks. Kim and I enjoyed cocktails and talked about how good we would be if we actually played.

Well, friends, farewell for now. Stay tuned for holiday magic!

Halloween!

Dear friends,

Please forgive my long absence. Will you accept silly photos as consolation?

Treats on-the-go in Manhattan

The new publicity assistant in my department informed me of this wonderful Manhattan novelty called the Treats Truck.

I got the delicious, yet perfectly subtle, caramel creme sandwich cookie. Yum.

The Treat lady has a frequent customer card - after purchasing eight treats, you get one free! Dangerous!

Late Summer in New York

Luke and I rented a boat in Central Park and took it out for a spin. I've always wanted to do this, and it lived up to expectations! I made Luke row for most of it, but I made a brief appearance as rower for a few minutes!

I took these beautiful pictures on Monday night.

Local Honey

Last Friday, after work, I passed a small farmers market in Rockefeller Center. I tastetested this yummmy honey comb and zoomed to the bank to get cash so I could snag one before the weekend.

The wax makes it fun, almost a novelty. But the honey is so sweet, it's perfect as a late summer treat.

Another year older....

At midnight, I turn 23. It's been quite an exciting year for me. I couldn't have asked for anything more.

This weekend, I celebrated my birthday with lots of friends, most notably, my best friend Emily.

To start things off, we had afternoon tea at Takashimaya.

After tea, we took a stroll through the park. It was a beautiful summer day.

My super-chic birthday present from Luke. Carrie Bradshaw would be so proud!

Birthday cake time!

So happy Em could join us for the weekend!

Needless to say, I was sad to see this weekend come to an end.
